ABOUT SHAFII
From Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Shafii "The Somali Sniper" Farah's journey to MMA began with a childhood spent playing soccer and watching UFC fights religiously. The son of immigrant parents who came to America seeking opportunity, Shafii learned early what it meant to fight for everything - a lesson that would define both his character and his career.
Growing up, Shafii studied the fighters, the movement, the tactics - always seeing himself competing on that same stage one day. Around 2016, he finally walked into a martial arts gym, and everything clicked. He got really good, fast. His natural aptitude and work ethic caught attention immediately, and soon he was not only training but coaching as well. He fell in love with all aspects of martial arts - the teaching, the learning, the constant evolution.
Now training at Kaizen MMA in Vienna, Virginia under Sensei Nima, Shafii has developed into a complete mixed martial artist. His style is built around movement, feints, and elite counter-striking - utilizing his height and reach to pick opponents apart with ruthless timing. It's a style that earned him his nickname: "The Somali Sniper."
Across four MMA fights, Shafii holds an undefeated record of 3 wins, 1 draw, and 0 losses. He's also captured the BX Cage Fight Kickboxing Belt and delivered one of his most memorable performances - an 18-second knockout in his second MMA bout. The precision, the timing, the finish - it announced his arrival as a dangerous finisher who can end fights in an instant.
But Shafii's journey hasn't been without adversity. For years, he was riddled with shoulder dislocations that threatened to derail his career. In 2023, he underwent successful surgery, and now his shoulder is better than ever. The setback only strengthened his resolve - proof that obstacles are temporary for those who refuse to quit.
Known for his signature left high kick and counter-striking brilliance, Shafii is comfortable being patient, comfortable moving, comfortable waiting for the perfect moment to strike. His mindset going into every fight is primal and uncompromising: "Him or me."
Guided by his philosophy that "Nothing is harder than fighting, so fight and life will be easier," Shafii sees the sport as both crucible and teacher. But he's careful to maintain perspective: "Fighting is something I do, it isn't who I am. There's life after this journey." It's the wisdom of someone who coaches full-time, developing the next generation while pursuing his own greatness.
For Shafii, Muay Thai means the world. "I try to be an example for my students and always strive for perfection even though I know I won't reach it." That pursuit of the unreachable - combined with the humility to know it's unreachable - defines his approach to both teaching and fighting.
His current goal is unwavering and unapologetic: to be the best fighter in the world, nothing less. With a professional debut opportunity on the horizon, "The Somali Sniper" is ready for the next level. And he wants fans to know one thing: "You will enjoy watching my fights. I bring an exciting style!"
What makes Shafii's story inspiring is the journey - a family that came to America as immigrants, a kid who always had to fight for everything even at a young age, who found martial arts and discovered he was built for it. Supported by his family and every coach who has invested in him, Shafii embodies the immigrant dream through discipline, work ethic, and the refusal to settle for anything less than greatness.
His message to fans is simple: Follow the gram.
